On
American Music LP 643 is Knocky Parker (piano) dubbed in as background music
for master 1. "Sugar Foot Stomp" (recording date 440804, master
606) is dubbed in as background for master 3. Master 4 is dubbed in with
excerpts from "When The Saints" (recording date 450518, master
894), "Nearer My God To Thee" (recording date 450518, master 902)
and "Just A Little While To Stay Here" (recording date 450518,
master 900). |
Bunk's talking about "Funeral Parade" is different in
time on the records, due tot the dubbed-in excerpts. On Storyville STV670.220
the time is 7:57. On Dan VC7011 the time is 6:00. On Jazzology Book BJ Book
CD #7 there is no dubbing in; the time is 3:17. |
These recordings were made on the same day as the following
session with Bertha Gonsoulin. |

Notes |
|
|
The numbers in brackets are the original masters numbers
assigned during the recording. The master numbers 9 to 16 where re-assigned
masters numbers after the recording. |
Bolden Medley was recorded as "Make Me A Pallet On The
Floor", master 14 (3c). |
5a en 5b were cut onto the same master. |
Franklin Street Blues (called "Blues In C" in Bill
Russel's notes) as issued on AMCD-16 was edited by Barry Martyn from two
different takes (4 & 5), none of which Bill Russell thought good enough
to issue. After hearing the edited version Bill gave his OK. |
